Welcome
My name is Nick Quagliara. I am a User Experience Designer.
I truly believe that Design has a powerful impact on people's lives. During my professional and academic life, I have seen that people are passionate about the
information technologies they use. People shouldn't have to suffer through functional software that largely ignores the user experience.
Information technologies are not passive tools.
They become part of who we are. They help mold and create culture.
I believe...
that good Design starts with deeply understanding the problems, people, and contexts at hand.
About me
Prior to entering the User Experience Design field, I spent eight years working with chronically mentally ill adults and touring the country playing music.

I loved my time working in the mental health field, but I just never felt that I had found my calling. Playing music was always fun and rewarding. Let's be honest, though, it is not a viable career option for most of us. I knew that I wanted to go back to school but I was interested in so many different things that it made it difficult to find the right program. Once I heard about the User Experience Design field, I knew that I had found a home.
The field allows me to study and draw inspiration from so many different disciplines. I have loved every minute of being a Designer (yes, even during those all night design
sessions). I hope that I never feel that I have learned all there is to know. I respect those that have laid the groundwork for making the User Experience field as
successful as it is today. At the same time, I want to challenge old ideas and explore new ones.
